Bennington to get commercial composting facility

BENNINGTON, Vt. -

Bennington is getting a new commercial composting facility.

TAM Waste Management has been granted a land-use permit-- the last regulatory hurdle the company faced.

The company says the 10-acre site is part of its larger effort to reduce the amount of waste it hauls to different landfills.

It could be a year before the company has compost to sell.

The company had hoped to build in Shaftsbury, but the town imposed a moratorium that remains in effect.
