Winooski man due in court on burglary charges

Posted: Updated:

COLCHESTER, Vt. (AP) - A 30-year-old Vermont man is due in court to answer charges he broke into as many as two dozen businesses.

Jason Cannon of Winooski was listed as a fugitive in November after police say he removed a monitoring bracelet from his ankle.

Police say that a few weeks later Cannon allegedly broke into businesses in Chittenden and Franklin counties.

In the first two weeks of December, 22 businesses were burglarized along Interstate 89 from Williston to Georgia.

Colchester Police Cpl. Mark Jacobs says the burglaries seemed to stop when police found Cannon's car inside of which investigators found stolen items, cash and a crowbar.

Cannon is due in court Friday.
