Opponents of NY gun law rally in Albany

ALBANY, N.Y. -

Thousands of gun rights supporters were in Albany Thursday to protest New York's new gun law.

The measure sets a seven-bullet limit on magazines, tightens the definition of illegal assault weapons and requires owners of formerly legal semi-automatic guns to register them.

National Rifle Association President David Keene was cheered by the crowd, with many saying they will not comply with the new law.

"I'm a proud veteran and I'm a proud member of the Assembly, and I'm proud to say I voted against the SAFE Act," Assemblyman Dan Stec, R-Queensbury, said to applause.

Rally organizers estimated Thursday's crowd at about 5,000 people.
