NH man charged with throwing drugs into prison

Posted: Updated:

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - A 25-year-old New Hampshire man is facing charges he threw drugs and a knife over a fence at the Northern Correctional Facility in Berlin.

Vincent Bitetto Jr., of Northfield, was arrested Monday by Belknap County Sheriff's deputies and later charged with attempt of delivery of articles to prisoners.

State Police say the incident occurred on Nov. 27.

Trooper Michael Cote says police have encountered incidents of people throwing drugs over the fence in the past. He says sometimes people who are incarcerated are willing to risk a lot to feed their addictions.

Cote tells the Concord Monitor Bitetto was not acting alone and more indictments are pending.

Bitetto is due in Berlin's district court March 12.
