Doyle Poll making the rounds at town meetings

Posted: Updated:
MONTPELIER, Vt. -

It has been a Town Meeting Day tradition for the past 42 years -- the Doyle Poll.

Senator William Doyle (R-Washington County) each year crafts questions for voters to answer as they head to the polls.  This year's questions range from wind power, to a gas tax increase, to is Governor Shumlin doing a good job?

Doyle said the poll results do make a difference in Montpelier. "I think it makes a difference to the 100 legislators who take the survey out on Tuesday -- tomorrow. That is why they take them out -- they would like to know how their people feel in their own district," he said.

Doyle said his annual poll is a public opinion barometer and an important factor when it comes to voting on legislation. He has already gotten a number of polls back already.
