BARRE, VT -- The Vergennes and Rochester boys basketball teams are heading to the state finals after both top seeds earned wins in the state semifinals Monday night at the Barre Auditorium.
In the Division Four semifinal, Rochester star junior guard Pavin Parrish scored 36 points and added 12 assists to lead the Rockets past fifth seed Twinfield 77-61. David Codling scored 19 and passed the 1,000 point mark in his career for the Trojans, who had won the last two D-4 championships.
In Division Two, Vergennes remained perfect, improve to 23-0 with a 54-49 win over fourth seed U-32. The Raiders held an early seven point lead before the Commodores would eventually move out front. This would stay close throughout, but Zach Ouellette and company did enough to advance to the state final for the second year in a row.
