BURLINGTON, Vt. -

How much do you know about horses? This weekend students are competing in a jeopardy-style quiz game. It's called the State 4-H Horse Quiz Bowl.

To inform us about the event and put Kristin Carlson and Mike McCune to the test was Mary Fay. She is a volunteer middle manager for the State Horse Program. And Kyle Scott is 15-years old competitor in the senior category, hoping to advance for a national title. Watch the video for more.

EVENT INFORMATION:

The annual State 4-H Horse Quiz Bowl, a competition designed to test 4-H members' knowledge of horses, will be held March 9 in Springfield.

University of Vermont (UVM) Extension and Windsor County 4-H will host the event, which gets underway at 10 a.m. at the Howard Dean Educational Center, 307 South St. Admission is free.

Rosette ribbons will be awarded to the top 10 individuals in each age group. All competitors will receive a blue, red or white participation ribbon, depending on their scores.

For seniors (14 to 18 years old) the quiz bowl also serves as the qualifying event for selection of the state horse quiz bowl team, which will represent Vermont in national competition. The 16 seniors with the highest individual scores in regular competition will compete in a semi-final round of 50 questions. The eight highest scorers from this round will participate in a final round of another 50 questions.
