Child injured in Hinesburg hit-and-run

HINESBURG, Vt. -

Hinesburg police are looking for a hit-and-run driver who they say struck a child on his way to school Wednesday. It happened at 7:45 a.m. on Route 116.

Police say the 8-year-old boy was in the crosswalk outside the Hinesburg Community School when a blue SUV allegedly hit him and sped off. The child was transported to Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington with minor injuries.

Police believe they have located the vehicle, but they have not released a suspect's name.
