NEWPORT CENTER, Vt. -
A Swanton mom is behind bars after
police say she fled with her daughter instead of showing up for a custody
hearing.
Police say on at about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Bobbi-Jo Hodgdon, 36, pulled her 9-year-old daughter out of school and drove her to Newport.
Police were called and multiple
departments searched for them. The car was found on West Main Street in Newport
Center, and at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, police found Hodgdon and her
daughter.
Hodgdon was arrested on an unrelated
warrant for extortion and for custodial interference.
Her daughter was not hurt. She is in protective custody
now.
