MONTPELIER, Vt. -
Gov. Peter Shumlin is questioning the legal success of a proposed GMO labeling law in Vermont.
Several years ago the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals denied a labeling law for artificial growth hormones in Vermont and Shumlin says the state is not the best option to test the first GMO labeling laws.
Last Friday, the House Agriculture Committee cleared the bill, but even supporters say they expect that if it passes, it will be challenged by the biotech industry in court.
