RANDOLPH, Vt. -
Vermont Technical College in Randolph is seeing big savings thanks to a new heating system.
VTC installed a biomass pellet boiler last year. The system provides heat for the Red School House Building on campus. The college received $185,000 in grants from the U.S. Department of Energy which went toward the system. The change has saved the college more than $4,000 in heating oil costs.
The school is also growing various grasses to pelletize for a mobile processing system.
