Car hits train in South Burlington

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. -

A 61-year-old from South Burlington escaped serious injury after driving her car into the path of a train Sunday.

Police say Carol Gardner caught her shoe strap under the brake and was unable to stop the car as she approached the tracks on the Bartlett Bay Road in South Burlington. The vehicle went through the railroad crossing and collided with the rear end of the moving train.

Luckily, Gardner suffered only minor injuries.
