MANCHESTER, Vt. -

Students at Hildene are taking part in a new program focused on a famous rail car.

The Manchester mansion was home to President Abraham Lincoln's son Robert. Robert Lincoln was president of the Pullman Company, which produced Pullman rail cars.

A fully-restored 1903 wooden Pullman palace car, called Sunbeam, will be on display for students as part of an educational program.

Fifth and sixth-grade students will learn about the role that Pullman porters played in giving rise to America's black middle class, the formation of the black labor movement, and the U.S. civil rights movement.
