NEWPORT CITY, Vt. -
A lost cell phone -- and a prank call -- led to a bomb scare at a Northeast Kingdom hospital.
At about 9:30 p.m. Sunday, staff at the North Country Hospital in Newport got a call from a man saying a bomb was going to go off at the hospital. The Newport City Police and fire departments, and the state police, searched the hospital, but nothing was found.
The investigation led them to a house in Derby, where the homeowner told them he had lost his cell phone at "The Tavern" in Derby the night before.
He is not a suspect, and police are asking anyone with information to contact them.
