NY ice shanties must be cleared this week

NEW YORK -

Ice fishing shanties in New York have got to go by the end of the week.

That's the word from the Department of Environmental Conservation. Owners who do not meet the Friday deadline will be fined $100.

This time of year shanties are known to fall through the ice and are difficult to remove, and ones that do fall through can damage boats once the ice is gone.
