NH cold case unit in jeopardy

Posted: Updated:
CONCORD, N.H. -

Lack of funds is putting the future of New Hampshire's cold case unit in jeopardy.

One of the unit's successful cases was the 2010 arrest of David McLeod. Authorities say he killed four people by setting their Keene house on fire in 1989.

The cold case unit was formed in 2009 using federal grant money.  It was funded through federal stimulus money until last month, when the funding ran out.  Governor Maggie Hassan included money in her proposed budget to cover the manpower to keep the unit running, but lawmakers could have the final say.
