BURLINGTON, Vt. -
The University of Vermont could go "smoke free."
Monday afternoon UVM President Tom Sullivan told trustees that the school will begin to explore the option of banning smoking on campus. Sullivan said the idea is in the very early stages and that he is looking to bring students, faculty and staff into the conversation before any decision is made.
"Many other schools in the U.S. have actually done this and it's time now for this university to have that conversation," Sullivan said.
Sullivan also updated the board on the search for a new university provost that is slated to wrap up this spring.
Monday trustees re-elected Robert Cioffi to a fourth term as Chair of the Board.
