PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -
Professional bass fishing tournaments on Lake Champlain provide a substantial financial benefit to the Plattsburgh area. That's according to a new economic impact study sponsored by the North Country Chamber of Commerce, which estimates direct and indirect spending related to the series of tournaments at $2.7 million. The study also notes the media exposure, including national networks like ESPN, that help make Lake Champlain and Plattsburgh become synonymous with world-class fishing.
Five more pro bass fishing tournaments are schedule to be based out of Plattsburgh this summer.
