Top seeds advance in Barre, again

BARRE, Vt - It's been a good year to be a top seed playing in the Barre Auditorium.

Last week, the number one seeds in the boys Division Two, Three and Four playoffs all won state championships.

On Monday, two of the three number one seeds in girls basketball advanced to their respective state title games with semifinal wins at the Aud.

In Divisoin Four, top seed Proctor used a balanced attack to run past number twelve Danville 43-26.  Abby McKearnin had a game high ten points.  Alyssa Valerio and Megan Carter added nine for the Phantoms.  They'll meet the winner of Tuesday night's semifinal between Arlington and West Rutland for the D-4 title Saturday at 12:00pm.

In the nightcap, Ashlie Fay scored 19 points to lead number one Mount Abraham past fourth seed Hartford 56-48.  Meg Livingston added 13 and Isabell Brennen nine points and seven rebounds for the Eagles.  Mt. Abe will take on either U-32 or BFA-Fairfax in the D-2 championship game Saturday at 3:45pm back at the Aud.  Those teams meeting in the second semifinal Tuesday night.
