Rutland City is receiving federal funds to fight domestic abuse.
It was awarded $200,000 through a new federal initiative aimed at reducing fatalities in domestic abuse situations.
The Rutland Herald reports Rutland is just one of 12 cities in the country getting this money.
Officials there believe it is in response to ongoing efforts with their Lethality Assessment Program, which has victims advocates and police work together to identify potential victims and high risk offenders.
