I have always loved lantana, but I had no idea there were so many different varieties! If you have a hot, sunny spot and you are looking for an annual flower that's not going to peter out in the middle of the summer, then lantana is your flower! It's low growing, loves the heat and can withstand the drought. New varieties have all different colors of the rainbow.
You could start with the solid-colored ones, such as "Grape" with those beautiful purple-colored flowers or "Pina Colada," (a new one this year), which has a light pale yellow color. One of my favorites, mostly because of the name, is "Tiddly Winks." It has golden-colored flowers.
The beauty of lantana is that you have these varieties with multiple colored flowers. It's what I usually think of when I think of lantana. The "Berry Blend" has more of a pink, almost coral color, but it's a little brighter. There is a "Citrus Blend," which has more of the orange and red tones. And if you want more of a pale color, there's the "Tropical Blend."
All of these varieties are really nice in the landscape to brighten it up. Finally, there's a new one that has variegated foliage called "Samantha." It has yellow flowers, and yellow and green-colored foliage, so even when it's not flowering, it'll brighten up your landscape!
If you want them all and you've got sun, go with lantana!
