MONTGOMERY, Vt. -
Fire crews in Franklin county weren't able to save a home on Thursday.
Multiple departments responded to a house fire on North Main Street in Montgomery around 1:30. A passerby saw smoke and called 9-1-1.
By the time crews got there flames were shooting out of the home.
Firefighters say the homeowner is out of town, but his son had just added wood to the stove and left the house a short time before the call came in.
No one was hurt. The home is a total loss.
