Rutland police officer cleared of criminal conduct

RUTLAND, Vt. -

A veteran Rutland police officer who who was suspended after an altercation at a hospital in December has been cleared of any criminal conduct.

After a two-month investigation, the attorney general's office decided not to pursue criminal charges against Thomas Fuller, citing insufficient evidence.

But Fuller will remain on leave until an internal investigation is finished.

Police have not released any details about the incident, other than that it did not involve anyone who was in custody.
