CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire state troopers and police officers are urging House lawmakers to go along with the gambling bill senators passed last week.
Leaders from the New Hampshire Troopers Association and the New Hampshire Police Association are holding a news conference Monday to discuss their support for the Senate bill, which would legalize up to 5,000 slot machines and 150 table games.
The law enforcement groups say the bill would provide a critical source of revenue for public safety programs.
The bill passed the Senate 16-8 with bipartisan support but faces a more difficult test in the House which has repeatedly rejected similar gambling legislation.
