Vermont's unemployment rate dropped in January.
The rate was 4.7 percent -- down two tenths of a percentage point from December's revised rate of 4.9 percent. That compares to the national unemployment rate of 7.9 percent, which was up a tenth of a point.
Vermont's rate for January was the fourth lowest in the country and marks six straight months in which the rate has either declined or held steady.
