Federal cuts force Vt. to roll back unemployment benefits

Federal budget cuts will force the state to roll back some unemployment benefits.

This will affect people who have exhausted regular benefits and are now eligible for up to 14 weeks of emergency compensation.

Beginning next month, those benefits will be cut by 11 percent per week.

The Vt. Labor Department says the reduction is a direct result of the sequestration budget cuts and cannot be appealed.
