Two bills dealing with marijuana will go before New Hampshire lawmakers this week.
One bill would legalize the drug for medical use. Former New Hampshire Governor John Lynch opposed attempts to legalize medical marijuana. But New Hampshire's new governor, Maggie Hassan, supports it with conditions.
"I think it is really important that any medical marijuana bill do a couple of things really carefully. One, we have to define the conditions for which marijuana can be prescribed very carefully and tightly. The other thing is we have to make sure that we dispense it in a very controlled way," said Hassan, D-New Hampshire.
Lawmakers will also vote on a bill to decriminalize the drug in the Granite State. But leaders in Concord say medical marijuana has a better shot at becoming law.
