BARNARD, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police are warning about a house rental scam on Craigslist.
Police say someone claims to be renting a home in Barnard and is willing to do all the paperwork through email and have the renter send them a deposit through Western Union before getting a key. But police said Wednesday that it's a scam and prospective renters should be aware.
Police say to never send money in advance of seeing an apartment and gaining access.
