Craigslist scam targeting Vermonters

BURLINGTON, Vt. -

If you're looking for a rental property on Craigslist -- police say 'beware.'

They're investigating a scam involving a house posted in Barnard. The people advertising -- claim they had to suddenly leave the area. They ask for a deposit to be sent via Western Union -- and then they'll send the renter a key. Well, it's scam, and a common one. In fact, police say it's been used in the Bethel-Barnard area before.
