Heroin bust in Rutland

RUTLAND, Vt. -

Police busted a major heroin operation in Rutland on Thursday.

Local, state and federal officials responded to 54 East Street in Rutland City where they found more than 1,600 bags of heroin, marijuana and more than $5,000 in cash.

Authorities arrested Isaiah Bilal, 19, of the Bronx, and Nicole Smith, 39, of Rutland. They will answer to charges of heroin trafficking, drug sale and possession in Rutland Superior court Friday morning.
