MONKTON, Vt. (AP) - A 31-year-old Vermont man is being charged with setting fire to a horse barn in Monkton that he owned with his wife.
Police say Dennis White was cited into court on Monday to answer the charge of first-degree arson in connection with the Feb. 24 fire at the barn with attached indoor riding ring.
The barn was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived after a resident reported seeing "an orange glow" in the area of the barn.
There were no injuries and none of the 14 horses being kept at the barn at the time were hurt.
Damage to the barn and its contents was estimated at more than $220,000.
