Posted: Updated:

WATERBURY, Vt. (AP) - Eleven Vermont State Police dogs are getting protective vests thanks to a nationwide campaign.

The group Vested Interest in K9s collected money from March 13 through March 20 through a website and raised more than $155,000 that allowed it to outfit more than 163 police dogs across the country with the vests.

Each vest costs about $950.

In Vermont, the vests were awarded to Trooper Jason Schlesinger and his dog Arrow; Trooper Justin Busby and Vincent; Trooper Rich Slusser and Drager; Trooper Eugene Duplissis and Argus; Trooper Krista Maurice and Cole; Trooper Christian Hunt and Reiko; Trooper Dustin Robinson and Sandy; Trooper Derek Rolandini and Kovu; Trooper Clark Lombardi and Cairo; Trooper Max Trenowsky and Burke; and Trooper Michelle LeBlanc and Casko.
