NEWPORT, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont sheriff's department is suing a man who's accused of using his family's giant farm tractor to crush seven law enforcement vehicles in a Newport parking lot.

The suit by the Orleans County sheriff's department also names the parents of Roger Pion.

It is seeking at least $195,000 in compensatory damages as well as punitive damages from Roger, Armand and Linda Pion, all of Newport.

The Caledonian Record reports the Pions have not responded to the lawsuit.

Last August, Roger Pion allegedly drove the tractor over five marked cruisers, one unmarked car and a transport van.

Earlier this year, the 34-year-old Roger Pion was found incompetent to stand trial and he was placed in the custody of the Department of Mental Health.
