Posted: Updated:
SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. -

A new initiative launched this month hopes to get people in Chittenden County to use alternative forms of transportation.

Launched on March 8 by the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission (CCRPC), Go! Chittenden County is a one-stop resource for information about transit, carpooling, vanpooling, car-sharing, bicycling, and walking. Its website -- www.gochittendencounty.org -- has a wealth of resources for both businesses and individuals, and the Go! Chittenden County hotline (1-800-685-7433) connects directly to a live person who can help with specific transportation needs.

The initiative is funded by a Transportation, Community, and System Preservation (TCSP) grant from the Federal Highway Administration. Partners include Vermont Agency of Transportation/ Go Vermont, the Chittenden County Transportation Authority (CCTA), Local Motion, CarShare Vermont, the Campus Area Transportation Management Association (CATMA), Vermont Department of Health, Vermont Energy Investment Corp. (VEIC) and others.
