BARRE, Vt. (AP) - Planned renovations to Barre City Hall in Vermont are ready to go.
The City Council this week has approved a series of contracts for the renovations, which include replacing a rusting fire escape, restoring a balcony, repainting the window casings and replacing a handicapped access ramp.
Light fixtures will be replaced and lighting will be included for the Barre Opera House's signature stained glass window.
The Times-Argus reports some of the projects will be financed with money left to the city by former Barre businessman Charlie Semprebon after he died in 2009.
City Manager Steve Mackenzie said it's a $165,000 investment.
