FORT EDWARD, N.Y. (AP) - A 36-year-old woman who drove her SUV off a northern New York road and ran into a woman mowing her lawn has been sentenced to from 1 1/3 to 4 years in prison after being convicted of criminally negligent homicide.

The Glens Falls Post-Star reports that Deana Olsen of Queensbury was sentenced Thursday by a judge who found her guilty last month. Witnesses described her using some kind of hand-held device and driving aggressively before she lost control of her Jeep Cherokee and hit 48-year-old Terry Brownell.

The accident happened on Aug. 27, 2011 in the Washington County town of Kingsbury, near the Vermont border 50 miles north of Albany.
