Deadline looms for Irene assistance in Rutland County

Posted: Updated:

Rutland County residents who suffered losses during Tropical Storm Irene are running out of time to seek assistance.

Several communities in the Rutland area sustained heavy damage from flooding caused by Irene. Most of the public infrastructure has been repaired and many private property owners have received assistance.

Now the county's Long Term Recovery Committee has set a deadline of April 15 to apply for disaster assistance for needs remaining from Irene. Anyone with needs not yet addressed, or facing additional disaster-related expenses incurred since last May, could be eligible for help.
