In New Hampshire, Fish and Game says backyard bird feeders must come down today. The state is issuing the order because the feeders attract bears and the big animals are getting active. Last year set a record for the number of conflicts between bears and people, partly because the warm weather conditions led to a poor natural food supply. The state says there were 1,100 complaints and nearly 10% percent of them involved bears and bird feeders. Another 40% were prompted by bears rummaging through household trash.
