State police are on the hunt for Bigfoot -- and they say it's no joke.
It's not the actual creature, but a 15 inch statue of Sasquatch. It went missing from a Westford couple's home over the weekend. The couple purchased it from the magazine SkyMall. Police are taking the report seriously, but couldn't help but have a little fun in the spirit of April Fool's.
In a press release about the theft, police warned the public not to attempt to apprehend Bigfoot without law enforcement's help. "It is stolen property -- and also you know -- when you're messing with Sasquatch you have to be careful and I just want to get it back to them," said Vt. State Police Trooper Todd Ambroz.
Police say the Yeti is valued at about $100 and they'd be satisfied if the thief simply returns the statue to the owner's front lawn.
