Red Sox fans at J. Morgan's Steakhouse couldn't contain their excitement during a 4-run top of the 2nd inning. Any other day, they might keep quiet, but this is opening day.
"We're all ready for the season to begin," says Montpelier Red Sox fan Norm Robinson.
The Vermont Mountaineers hosted today's opening day party. The club gave away team tickets throughout the game. Richard Smith, a Mountaineers fan, won 2 of those tickets.
"I ordered chicken wings, a beer and won a raffle all in one breath, Smith says. "My daughter Martha is a volunteer. We go to 4 or 5 games a year. Now I've won 2 free tickets to a game, so things are looking good."
The Red Sox and the Yankees opening up the season is a great sign that spring has arrived, but it also means that in just a couple of months the Mountaineers season will be here.
"Our first home game is going to be June 8th," Norman James, Mountaineers Director says. "We're taking advantage of our good crowd and the fans here to have raffles and to have people sign up for volunteers and we're looking for host families."
