BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A national commission has voted to deny accreditation for nursing programs at Southern Vermont College, and the college is planning to appeal.
College President Karen Gross said it was based on erroneous information and a flawed procedure.
The college's associate's degree for nursing and bachelors of science in nursing programs have been on probation for two years. The National League of Nursing Accreditation Commission visited last fall and determined it had not come into compliance for the accreditation process.
The Bennington Banner says the visiting team raised concerns regarding student outcomes, a new curriculum, and instructor qualifications.
Gross said the commission didn't follow its own accreditation procedure by not affording the college an opportunity to respond to its findings.
