MONTPELIER, Vt. -

A wild boar ban is moving forward in Montpelier.

House lawmakers have approved the ban after wildlife officials raised concerns that the boar could escape from captive hunting facilities and attack other animals.

They are described as an invasive species that reproduce quickly and do a lot of damage. The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department is asking the Legislature to make it illegal to own or import these animals in Vermont.
