The president of Champlain College has announced his retirement.
David Finney has been at the helm of Champlain for eight years. He says he plans to step down in June of 2014. Finney says he's accomplished most of his goals at Champlain, including increased enrollment, expanded academic programs and new campus facilities.
The chair of the board of trustees praised Finney for taking Champlain to the "next level of excellence" during his tenure.
"I have been on campuses where presidents have stayed too long. In my view, it has drained momentum from the organization and I determined that I really did not want to do that," Finney said Monday.
Champlain College has hired a search firm to help in the process of finding Finney's replacement.
