New owners have taken over the Shaw's supermarket chain, but Vermont stores are not expected to see changes any time soon.
Shaw's stores were sold as part of a $3.3 billion deal that transfers ownership of five grocery chains from SUPERVALU to a group of investors.
In November, the previous owners of Shaw's announced plans to cut 700 jobs across New England, but the new owners say Vermont's 19 stores will not be seeing any of those cuts and all stores will remain open. Shaw's spokesman says several Vermont stores may actually be hiring over the next several months. Shaw's officials say they will be revamping the shopping experience, but customers shouldn't expect to see changes in the immediate future.
