Castleton to get facelift

Posted: Updated:

The town of Castleton is getting a facelift.

The town spent three years setting aside funds and applying for grants to come up with $2 million for a project to revamp bridges, roads, sidewalks and parks. The priciest items will be major sidewalk renovations and construction on a bridge over Lake Bomoseen. Grady's bridge is a popular fishing spot and the town will build several platforms for easy access to the waters below.

"We are a college town; we have a lot of folks coming in for the summer... So, it is not only our residents and taxpayers who enjoys and uses our town-- and should have facilities that are first class," said Charles Jacien, the Castleton town manager.

Dewey Field, the multi-use park and recreational area, will also see renovations. All the town fixes are expected to take two years. Work starts in July.
