UVM's Nika Ouellette is on a strict program. One week on, one week off.
"I took it easy today and just looking to go big next week," Ouellette said.
But even her off week is far and away better than most.
"As far was where we should be at the beginning of a season, this is probably about what is as expected," Ouellette said.
Coming off a 4th place finish in Texas a couple weeks ago, the junior was back at home over the weekend wining the Javelin at the Catamount Open.
"Any opportunity we get to have the fan base here to come out an support us is always pretty nice," Ouellett said.
It's early in the season, but Ouellette is on track as she gears toward a flight to Oregon for June's National championships.
"This year we worked on a lot of different things, extended the approach, just working a lot more in the weight room," Ouellette said. I am really trying to make sure that every motion and every movement is really really strong and it's going to help show what we got out in Oregon," Ouellette said.
And if Ouellette is on that day, she'll stick out as one of the best in the nation. In Burlington, Scott Fleishman, Channel 3 sports.
