Forest service to conduct prescribed burns

Posted: Updated:
RUTLAND, Vt. -

The U.S. Forest Service plans to burn parts of the Green Mountain National Forest.

It's part of a management tool to get rid of brush, restore wildlife habitat and regenerate some growth. It will also improve watershed quality.

The fires are not expected to affect residents, but smoke will be visible.

The Forest Service says it will release more details closer to the burn dates.
