Springfield woman accused of hitting man with car

Posted: Updated:

A Springfield woman is behind bars after police say she allegedly hit a man with her car early Thursday morning.

Police say they were out for a routine patrol when the victim -- 54-year-old Richard Cole -- flagged them down. He had lacerations on his head, hands and neck. Police say the driver, 34 year old Cheryl Soundy -- hit Cole on Perley Gordon Road in Springfield.

Cole told police he exited Soundy's car after the two had an argument and was then struck from behind. He allegedly fell down an embankment where he managed to grab onto a tree before falling into a river. Soundy is being held for lack of 5-thousand dollars bail.
