Court gives Moretown landfill extension

Posted: Updated:

The Moretown Landfill has been given a temporary reprieve.

The dump was ordered by the state to stop accepting waste as of Monday. But the state environmental court has extended that deadline by 90 days -- to July 15th.

That extension comes as the owners of the landfill are appealing the state's decision to close down the facility. The Agency of Natural Resources refused to issue a new operating permit due to on-going odor control and other problems at the landfill.
