Rescued ponies up for adoption

Posted: Updated:

Six ponies have been rescued and put up for adoption by the Rutland County Humane Society.

Several animals were removed from a home in Brandon in late March, including six ponies that were handed over to the Humane Society. The animals were surrendered by the owner. The rescued ponies needed immediate care for lice and other health problems.

"The important thing is finding the homes for the ponies and we are not charging adoption fees for them per se, but we have been really lucky to have people donating for their care. And we are grateful for that," said Jessica Danyow of the Rutland County Humane Society.

Four of the six ponies have already been adopted. The remaining white mares are 5 and 12-years-old and living with a volunteer. The case is under investigation, but so far, no criminal charges.
